Thermal conductivity

The strongly oriented, crinkled talc structure makes the difference

MammuttiStone conducts heat effectively in the direction of the talc-cleaving stone. The foliation of the talc helps in passing the heat quickly into the stone and promotes efficient storage of heat in the structures of the fireplace. The thermal conductivity of MammuttiStone against the foliation is approximately 50lower. Due to the strongly oriented talc network, the thermal conductivity remains unchanged even up to a temperature of 1,400 °C.

The thermal conductivity of the MammuttiStone is almost double in the direction of the talc foliation in comparison to the direction against the foliation. Good thermal conductivity is important, as the combustion gases are hottest in the combustion chamber, and this is where 60 to 70% of the heat is transferred to the fireplace.

The fluctuation of the thermal conductivity is utilised in designing the structure of the fireplace.
