Correct use and maintenance promote a long product life

Use and maintenance

A fireplace performs at its best when you carry out regular maintenance and use it in keeping with the instructions. In addition to the statutory sweeping, some self-performed maintenance, such as cleaning the grate and emptying the ash box, is necessary for the fireplace’s proper operation and durability. By reading the general and product-specific instructions provided with your fireplace, you will get a comprehensive picture of the characteristics, use, and maintenance of your fireplace.

Cleaning the Grate of the Golden Fire

Always clean the grate before use so the combustion air can flow unobstructed through the air holes of the grate, and around it. Clean the grate with the cleaning hook provided with the fireplace.

Emptying and storing the ashes

Empty the ash box before it is full. Remove the ashes, and place them in a metal container with a cover. Don't store the ashes indoors, as they may smoulder, causing a risk of fire. Replace the ash box against the back wall of the ash space.

Cleaning the outer surface of the fireplace

Basic cleaning Remove dust and waste with a soft brush or by carefully vacuuming with a brush-like or soft nozzle attachment.
Wipe the surface stones with a damp cleaning cloth and an ordinary cleaning agent.
StainsWipe stains off as soon as possible. Use an ordinary cleaning agent for removing stains.
For tough stains, you may use NunnaUuni's cleaning agent or remove the stains by polishing the surface of the stone with water sandpaper (grain: 400–600) or a sanding sponge. Use water for polishing to obtain a smooth and shiny result. After polishing, wipe away the accumulated paste with water.
JointsUse water sandpaper to cleaning the joints (grain: 400–600).
Door glass
Always clean the glass after it has cooled.
The glass can be polished by taking fine ashes in a piece of kitchen roll and wiping the glass with it. Glass-cleaning agents may also be used.
RangeApply a light coating of cooking oil to the cast-iron parts to prevent rusting.
