Technical requirements

A successful result is the sum of many factors. Below are some technical issues to consider when you are planning the purchase of a fireplace, either yourself or with the help of a NunnaUuni expert:

The FOUNDATION is as important for a fireplace as it is for a house. The foundation must meet the requirements of the building regulations, and it must be suitable for the selected fireplace in terms of its load-bearing capacity and dimensions. A construction planner is responsible for planning the foundation.

The FLUE is needed to lead out the fireplace smoke, and also to ensure a sufficient draught for the fireplace. The smoke flues and flue connections must be in a condition approved by the fire authorities and in accordance with NunnaUuni's recommendations. The flue connection holes must be open and located such that the fireplace can be connected to the flue.

The most common flue connection method is to make the connection in the connection area at the bottom. Storing stoves and storing stoves with baking ovens (Solo) can also be equipped with a top connection and a top connection damper. The top connection ensures an initial draught when the fireplace is cold. For more information, contact your NunnaUuni dealer.

COMBUSTION requires air. In fireplaces with doors, combustion requires 7–10 cubic metres of combustion air per kilogram of wood. Therefore you need to ensure a sufficient supply of replacement air. The air required for combustion can be led in through a ventilation window or a replacement air valve in the wall in the following ways:

1. Directly into the fireplace
The air is led from the pipe to the air control unit and from there to the fire chamber via the grate. This applies to storing stoves and Solo storing stoves with baking oven, and it is recommended for sites with forced ventilation. The air pipe must be made of fireproof material.

2. Through the air control unit into the room space

Air is led to the air control unit and to the room space, passing from there to the combustion chamber via the air holes in the doors. This is suitable for Duo storing stoves with baking oven, and for baking ovens. The pipe must be made of fireproof material at least as regards the portion 50 mm under floor level.

Country-specific regulations must be followed in the installation and choice of materials for the air pipes.

SAFETY DISTANCES
to combustible materials are often country- or even locality-specific. They must be heeded. These are minimum safety distances to combustible building materials, specified by NunnaUuni.
