Aurum - the warmth of pellets in a heat-storing fireplace

Purchasing a fireplace – the heart of the house – is an important step both for those who are building a house and for those who are renovating. The appearance of a fireplace is no longer the only criterion in purchasing a fireplace. The fireplace's heat economy benefits also need to be considered. Discussion in the media about emissions has created pressure not only for the development of more environmentally friendly burning but also for the implementation of new biomass-based fuels. Among manufacturers of heat-storing fireplaces, NunnaUuni Oy is the first to launch a pellet unit designed especially for heat-storing fireplaces.

There are different types of cages available for burning pellets in a fireplace. However, burning pellets in such cages may turn out to be a disappointment, as the burning is often too slow, resulting in low fireplace efficiency and high emission levels.

A little less than two years ago, NunnaUuni Oy began to develop a product that would make burning pellets in a heat-storing fireplace as climate-friendly and heat-efficient as burning chopped firewood in the most modern fireplaces. Now the product is complete and is coming to the market in July.

Heating is easier than ever before

The pellet unit is compatible with the majority of NunnaUuni's current models. The unit is ideally suited for use in combination with chopped firewood heating. Unlike in many other pellet units, the pellets burn in a beautiful flame. Use is easy, as there is no need to stoke the fire during the heating phase. The heating phase itself lasts about two hours, as with burning firewood. As a result, the heat lasts for the next 24 hours.

Although firewood remains the main burning material in NunnaUuni fireplaces, there are people who prefer pellets.

'Modern man is busier than ever, and situations vary. When you are in a hurry, pellets offer a good choice for natural heating,' says Export Manager Harri Lehtomäki. He continues: 'However, I believe that chopped firewood will hold out as the main burning material, since the availability of chopped firewood is good, and for forest owners it is substantially cheaper to acquire chopped firewood than pellets. Furthermore, many think that heating with chopped firewood has much more feeling and genuineness behind it.'

Aurum – the Pellet Unit of the Golden Fire – is sold by authorised NunnaUuni dealers.
